What should I wear to my massage
appointment?
Your attire to and from your appointment can be casual; however,
attire does not matter as you will disrobe entirely or to your briefs
and be covered by a sheet during the massage.
What should I expect
during the massage?
You will complete a confidential medical history form at your first
visit. Your therapist will review this with you and assist you
with determining the type of massage and your goals for the session.
You
will then be shown the massage therapy room and instructed on how
to disrobe and lay on the table once the therapist has left the
room. While lying on the table, you will be covered at all times
except
for the body part being massaged. Tables are heated, lighting is
dim, and relaxation music is played to aide in the total relaxation
of mind and body. You will be instructed to inform your therapist
immediately if the pressure is too much or too little or if you
have any other concerns. Otherwise, the therapist will remain silent
during
the massage until it is time to instruct you to turn over, while
maintaining your utmost privacy. Your therapist will advise you
when the session is over, turn up the light for you, and leave
the room
to allow you to dress. After your session, your therapist will
meet with you to discuss the findings of the session and to answer
your
questions.
How do I know which massage would be best for me?
Your therapist will consult with you about your goals for the
session and likes/dislikes regarding massage at each visit
in order to
determine which techniques to use.
What if I am cold or the therapist
is not using enough pressure?
Let your therapist know of your concerns immediately. We want
you to communicate any concerns that you have immediately to
your therapist
so that they may be corrected for a pleasurable experience.
Remember this hour is all about you. We want to make you happy!
May
I choose my therapist?
Yes, however, you may have to wait a little longer for an appointment
by not taking the therapist that is available.
Are your therapists
certified?
Our therapists are Nationally Certified and licensed by the
VA Board of Nursing. We are also required to take continuing
education
classes.
